Oksana Syvak M.D.
Dr. Oksana Syvak graduated with the Doctor of Medicine degree from the Bogomolets National Medical University, Kyiv, Ukraine. She worked as a obstetrician-gynecologist for 18 years, and also served as a Clinical Operation Lead conducting research at Paraxel International. During the Revolution of Dignity at Maidan, she effectively organized four underground medical hospitals for protestors, allowing for the treatment of over 500 patients.
Dr. Syvak went on to apply her skills in the public sector, serving as the Adviser to the Minister of Health of Ukraine and then, as the Deputy Minister on European Integration of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in 2016 – 2017. She oversaw the launch of the physical rehabilitation system in Ukraine and the co-author of the Law of Ukraine “On rehabilitation in the field of health care”.
Dr. Syvak is the Director of the International Institute of Postgraduate Education and the Director of the Center of Psychological Counseling and Traumatherapy “Open Doors” which is currently providing the clinical care that will become UIT.
Dr. Syvak lives in Kyiv, Ukraine and her husband is the current Ukrainian Ambassador to Botswana. They have a son and daughter, both of whom currently live in the U.S.

Olya Zaporozhets, Ph.D.
Dr. Olya Zaporozhets has taught in Ukraine since 2005 and is currently a Professor in the School of Psychology and Counseling at Regent University She splits her time between the U.S., Ukraine, and traveling throughout Europe and the Middle East promoting awareness of mental health needs in Ukraine, supporting the EMDR therapy community, consulting with mental health professionals.
Olya built her own 3-story home in Ukraine over the past 2 years and has gained the contacts & knowledge to make the UIT Capital Campaign a success.
She has trained Christian leaders in mental health counseling in Europe and Asia. As a native of Ukraine, Zaporozhets finds conducting a unique cross-cultural supervision project in Ukraine, where Regent counseling students train and supervise local Christian counseling students in their practice, especially rewarding.

Joshua Kreimeyer, Ph.D., LPC (CO)
Dr. Kreimeyer graduated from Mankato State University (the “big town” from the show Little House on the Prairie) with a B.S. in Recreation. From there he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a cryptologic linguist. He and his family served in California, Texas, and Germany with side excursions for him to Kosovo (2000) and Iraq (2003). After the military, he transitioned into the field of Counseling (MAC, 2007). He also obtained a postgraduate certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy (Regis, 2011).

Kaitlyn Stafford, Ph.D., LCSW
Dr. Kaitlyn Stafford is a military spouse in private practice since 2017, where she specializes in treating complex trauma in adults and works with service members and veterans in inpatient treatment, as well as providing outpatient counseling services. She has also managed intensive outpatient addiction treatment programs for adolescents, women, adults, and clients with co-occurring mental health and addiction disorders.
Dr. Stafford is an EMDR-certified clinician and provides EMDR and trauma therapy consulting. She is passionate about mentoring future and current clinicians to offer competent, trauma-informed care. Dr. Stafford is also committed to helping educate clinicians on the military culture and how to successfully and ethically navigate a telehealth practice.
She has served as a supervisor, consultant, and faculty member for a counselor training program in Ukraine since 2017. Her current research is the career and life satisfaction of military spouses who have advanced degrees, military culture, and trauma.
Dr. Stafford is an Assistant Professor and the Assistant Director at the Townsend Institute at Concordia University Irvine for the Master of Arts in Counseling and Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. Dr. Stafford is the subject matter expert for various courses including Foundations of Addiction Counseling, Human Sexuality, and Advanced Applications of Trauma Informed Practice.

Corie Schoeneberg, Ph.D., LPC, RPT-S, NCC
Dr. Corie Schoeneberg has over 15 years of clinical counseling experience and specializes in play therapy and childhood mental health with an emphasis in trauma and attachment problems.
Dr. Schoeneberg provided pioneering counseling and play therapy work in Ukraine when she developed the Children’s Counseling Certificate Program for the Ukrainian Institute for Education in Psychology and Counseling where she continues to serve as the Program Director and Founding President of Ukraine’s Child and Adolescent Counseling Association. In addition to her faculty work at Liberty University, Dr. Schoeneberg is an international and keynote presenter, and she provides clinical and play therapy supervision, consultation services, and interdisciplinary trainings.
Dr. Schoeneberg is a Past President of the Missouri Association for Play Therapy, currently serves as the Chair for the University Education Committee for the Association for Play Therapy, and was the recipient of the 2020 Emerging Leader Award for the Association for Play Therapy.
She has provided counseling services in her. local public school system, private practice, non-profit, youth home, and military clinic settings.
Dr. Schoeneberg is the author of nearly 20 publications, including Preparing for trauma work in clinical mental health a workbook to enhance self-awareness and promote safe, competent practice. Her research focus areas are trauma, play therapy, childhood mental health, counselor education, cross-cultural supervision, and creative interventions.

Jacqueline Smith, Ed.D., LPC
Dr. Jacqueline Smith has 30 years of experience in community mental health counseling, including eight years of private practice and many years of administrative leadership experience.
She has published a variety of scholarly works with her most recent being a chapter titled “Diagnosis Issues with African Americans” in African Americans and Mental Health published in 2021. Her scholarly interests include counseling ethnic/racial minority groups; religion and spirituality in counseling; group work; professional identity development and gatekeeping, and counselor training and supervision. Dr. Smith also currently serves on the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) board.

Kathie Erwin, Ed.D., LMHC
Dr. Erwin is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor with 25 years of experience in private practice and developed geriatric group programs. She is the author of six books on gerontology and aging issues and practice development. Her research interests are the multi-generational family, group work with older adults and trauma counseling.
Dr. Erwin is a Fulbright Specialist for teaching and research at the University of Iceland. She serves as a Board Member of Florida Mental Health Counselors Association and Green Cross Academy of Traumatology. She has been a team leader with Green Cross in Trinidad, Tobago, India, and Romania.
Dr. Erwin is a guest lecturer for NordMag Intensives at University of Iceland and the International Institute of Postgraduate Education in Ukraine.

Deanna Towns, Ph.D., LPC, LMFT
Deanna Towns earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from University of Georgia, her master’s in marriage and family therapy from Liberty University in Virginia, and her doctorate in counselor education and supervision at Regent University in Virginia. Deanna worked as an adjunct professor at Regent University and and as a clinical mental health counselor in private practice. She is involved in educating students and supervisors cross-culturally and establishing the profession of counseling in Eastern Europe. Her focus areas include Clinical Supervision; Trauma and Abuse; Development of Counseling Internationally; Virtues in Learning Acquisition; and Military Families.

Mandy Kellums Baraka, Ph.D., LPCC (IL)
Dr. Baraka earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University. Her research interests include multicultural issues in counseling and supervision, transnational supervision, creative counseling practices, and pedagogical practices
that promote social justice and advocacy.
She lived and worked for nearly a decade in Southeast Asia as an education consultant providing service and support for international families. Dr. Baraka enjoys working with families and engages in clinical work with children, adolescents, emerging adults, and families. She continues to provide supervision and consultation internationally and actively supports the Human Needs and Global Resources (HNGR) Program.
